Por qué el cielo no es Amarillo ?

Artistic Project developed during the residency at LUGAR A DUDAS.
Developed by Paula Massarutti and Alexandra McCormick
During our stay in Cali, we embarked on various journeys in search of materials discarded by the city. Similar to how the river carries waste in its flow, we traversed different paths with carts, collecting these discarded items and trying to find new ways to access the river.
While setting up the artwork, an installation that occupies the shop window and part of the sidewalk, our relationship with the neighbors, workers, and recyclers (*) in this residential area of the Granada neighborhood deepened. The properties of the materials: debris from old houses demolished to make way for new architecture, red, yellow, and brown clays, pieces of styrofoam, organic remnants, furniture scraps, neon tubes, and a tire, took on a sensitive dimension in the tension surrounding the dispute over garbage in public spaces and its valorization as commodities.
In this context, we became aware that, until its dismantling, our artwork will be in a state of permanent change, movement, and creation, driven by the circulation that the residents will continue to generate with these materials.
